WORD BOOK FILM. Sandra Buchta is a screenwriter who also offers story consulting services for the development of feature films, TV series and documentaries.
As a story consultant, I take on projects in all stages of development: from the very first pitch up to the rough cut of a film.
To me, story consulting means becoming the detective of a story - the solution lies in the material itself.
As a screenwriter I also like to collaborate with other writers or directors. Currently, I am working on three literary adaptations which are in financing or development as feature films.
THE LECTURE is a thriller, based on a short story by nobel laureate Olga Tokarczuk (“Professor Andrews goes to Warsaw”) and is in financing as a European co-production (director: Kasia Adamik, producers: Wild Mouse, Agnieszka Holland, IRIS, Chromosom Film). In April 22, the project received production funding from the Luxemburg film fund.
I also have several original TV series concepts in development with co-writers, based in Germany, Italy and Poland.
How can you support writers and producers in the development process, how do you create and produce stories together - how does a writers‘ room work?
From 2012 to 2018 I designed and curated an international program for script development, which aimed to answer these questions through an innovative approach, the Racconti Script Lab.
As a creative advisor for documentaries at the University of Television and Film Munich, I hold an annual workshop that focuses on story development and on forming creative partnerships for filmmakers‘ teams.
